Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston is seeking a Manager of Manufacturing Operations for the 2nd shift to lead cell therapy manufacturing activities, ensure alignment with production schedules, and maintain cGMP compliance across equipment setup, operation, disassembly, and cleaning.

You will mentor Supervisors and frontline staff, manage batch records, and partner with cross-functional teams to support investigations, deviations, and change controls while driving safety, quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific/technical/engineering field.
• 4+ years of experience; prior people leadership required.
• Cell therapy and aseptic manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations.
• Direct activities through staff management and task assignment.
• Ensure alignment with production schedules and business priorities.
• Oversee cGMP manufacturing, including equipment setup and cleaning.
• Approve batch documentation and on-the-floor batch record review.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support maintenance, investigations, deviations, and change controls.
• Monitor GMP compliance and maintain audit-ready facility.
• Drive performance improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
