Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer II for turbopump assembly. You will own development of turbopump-related processes, lead manufacturing improvements, and support design reviews to optimize manufacturing for Archimedes engines. The role interfaces with production, quality, and engineering leadership.

You will mentor teams, deploy lean tools, and help define workflows, procedures, and safety practices in a fast-growing aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in a heavy development manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of fluid and structural mechanics fundamentals.
• Knowledge in manufacturing processes for aerospace materials.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and coach people within the team on technical and professional development.
• Define and maintain standard of excellence through documentation, training, coaching, and review of others’ work.
• Contribute to engineering process development and documentation.
• Lead design reviews acting as an expert in design for manufacture, design for machining, productivity, quality control, etc.
• Design, develop, and implement tooling and equipment for production to improve quality, delivery and cost performance.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
• Collaborate with propulsion assembly technicians for alignment, capability, and support.
• Perform Value Stream Mapping, Method of Manufacture plans, cell design, etc.
