Job summary

Rocket Lab’s Long Beach, CA site seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to lead turbopump assembly development for Archimedes engines. You will drive DFx in manufacturing, develop tooling, and collaborate with propulsion teams to optimize processes, quality and cost.

A strong background in mechanical/aerospace manufacturing and lean principles is required. The role emphasizes process documentation, factory layouts, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced production environment,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering or similar engineering discipline
• 2+ years of experience in a heavy development manufacturing environment
• Understanding of fluid and structural mechanics fundamentals
• Knowledge in manufacturing processes for aerospace materials

Responsibilities

• Contribute to engineering process development and documentation for manufacturing
• Participate in design reviews providing DFx, DFMA, productivity and quality input
• Design, develop and implement tooling for production to improve quality, delivery or cost
• Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction projects
• Collaborate with propulsion assembly technicians for alignment and support
• Perform value stream mapping and method of manufacture planning
• Implement factory layouts, equipment selection and production commissioning
• Document production processes including testing, health and safety requirements
• Interface with quality team to resolve manufacturing issues and lead root-cause investigations
• Lead lean initiatives (5S) in your area
