Job summary

Rocket Lab, based in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to own turbopump assembly processes for Archimedes engines. You will support the Director of Manufacturing Engineering and the production organization with deliverables for leadership, board, and investors.

The role requires a mechanical/ aerospace background, 2+ years in heavy manufacturing, and strong knowledge of GD&T, DFMA, and lean methods. Onsite work with competitive pay and equity is offered.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a heavy development manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of fluid and structural mechanics fundamentals.
• Knowledge in manufacturing processes for aerospace materials.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to engineering process development and documentation.
• Design, develop, and implement tooling and equipment for production to improve quality, delivery and/or cost.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction projects using lean tools.
• Collaborate with propulsion assembly technicians for alignment, capability and support.
• Perform value stream mapping, method of manufacture planning and cell design.
• Develop production processes with testing procedures and safety requirements.
• Interface with the quality team on manufacturing engineering quality responsibilities and lead root-cause investigations.
• Lead continuous improvement using 5S and lean techniques.
