Rocket Lab Corporation’s Long Beach site seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer I for turbopump assembly, improving production for Rutherford/Archimedes engines. You will mentor staff, drive process improvements, and lead design reviews focused on manufacturability and cost efficiency.

Based at our Long Beach HQ, you’ll implement tooling, document procedures, and collaborate with production teams to deliver on aggressive timelines and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering or similar.
• 5+ years in a heavy development manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of fluid and structural mechanics fundamentals.
• Knowledge in manufacturing processes for aerospace materials.
• Nice to have advanced engineering degree.
• Experience with turbopumps or similar turbomachinery.
• Experience contributing to and steering design reviews for manufacture, test and assembly.
• GD&T and inspection methods.
• Lean/Six Sigma and value stream mapping.
• Experience with 3D CAD software and tooling design.

Responsabilités

• Mentor team members on technical and professional development.
• Define and maintain standards of excellence through documentation, training, and review.
• Contribute to engineering process development and documentation.
• Lead design reviews with focus on manufacturability, machining, productivity, and quality.
• Design, develop, and implement tooling and equipment to improve quality, delivery and cost.
• Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction projects.
• Collaborate with propulsion assembly technicians for alignment and support.
• Perform Value Stream Mapping, Method of Manufacture planning, and cell design.
• Implement factory layouts, equipment selection, FAT/SAT, and production commissioning.
• Document production processes, tests, safety requirements, and signoffs.
• Interface with quality to resolve manufacturing engineering quality responsibilities and root-cause investigations.
• Lead continuous improvement using lean tools like 5S.
