Job summary

Rocket Lab Corporation in Long Beach, CA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II for Turbopump Assembly to drive new product development and revisions for Rutherford and Archimedes engines. You’ll support manufacturing with DFMA, tooling, and process documentation, collaborating across production teams to improve quality, cost, and delivery.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s in mechanical/aerospace/manufacturing engineering and 2+ years in heavy development manufacturing; GD&T, aerospace materials

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a heavy development manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of fluid and structural mechanics fundamentals.
• Knowledge in manufacturing processes for aerospace materials.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to engineering process development and documentation related to turbopump assembly.
• Contribute to design reviews acting as an expert in design for manufacture, machining, productivity, and quality control.
• Design, develop, and implement tooling and equipment for production to improve quality, delivery, or cost performance.
• Collaborate with propulsion assembly technicians for alignment, capability, and support.
• Perform value stream mapping exercises, method of manufacture plans, and cell design.
• Implement factory layouts, equipment selection, FAT/SAT, and production commissioning.
• Develop production processes with testing procedures and safety requirements.
• Interface with the quality team to resolve manufacturing engineering quality responsibilities and lead root cause investigations.
• Lead continuous improvement using lean tools like 5S.
