Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL, seeks an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead CPV-focused refurbishment and test-support activities. You will craft SOPs, generate work orders, and collaborate across CPV labs to ensure safe, repeatable spaceflight hardware handling.

The role emphasizes hands-on processes, continuous improvement, and cross-site collaboration, with 10–20% travel to West Texas facilities as needed. You will mentor engineers and align ERP/CMMS workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Aerospace, or related Engineering field.
• 5+ years of manufacturing or test engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with cleaning, passivation, assembly, integration, instrumentation, non-destructive testing, leak testing, or fluid component refurbishment.
• Experience developing work instructions, SOPs, and manufacturing/process documentation.
• Experience with configuration management, requirements management, and change processes.
• Experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to work with technicians, engineers, and leadership.
• Direct experience with fluid component cleaning, surface treatment, and validation procedures.
• Familiarity with AI tools in a manufacturing or processing environment.
• Lean digital literacy with tools like MS Office, Jira, Confluence.
• Must be eligible to gain access to Redstone Arsenal.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or legally admitted.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain manufacturing engineering processes, SOPs for CPV and ground system activities across Huntsville and West Texas facilities.
• Own creation, release, and configuration management of work orders for refurbishment and lab operations.
• Shape and improve cleaning, passivation, verification, and refurbishment processes to meet specs.
• Source, specify, and procure tooling, fixturing, and equipment for CPV and labs.
• Discipline non-conformances and drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Champion continuous improvement across CPV and labs with technicians.
• Collaborate with design, quality, materials, and test engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and refurbish-ability.
• Mentor junior engineers and strengthen ERP/CMMS workflows for better traceability.
