Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Senior Manager, Workforce Accounting to lead the Corporate Accounting Operations team in SF. You will own payroll, stock-based compensation, benefits, and relocation costs, while building policies, controls, and system integrations.

This role combines hands-on accounting with team leadership in a high-growth environment. You will partner with People Operations, Payroll, and Tax, driving close analytics, audit readiness, and scalable solutions, including automation with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Active CPA license or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Deep, hands-on experience with payroll accounting and stock-based compensation under ASC 718.
• Experience owning a portfolio of accounts through close in a public company or pre-IPO environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication with non-accounting partners.

Responsibilities

• Own the workforce close: payroll, accrued compensation, bonus, vacation, severance and accruals.
• Own stock-based compensation accounting end to end under ASC 718 and equity roll-forwards.
• Own headcount and compensation reporting underpinning close analytics.
• Ensure every close deliverable is audit-ready with supporting evidence.
• Write and maintain accounting policies and SOPs for the workforce domain.
• Shape ERP integrations and automate repetitive workflows, including with Claude.
• Partner with People Ops, Payroll, Tax and Legal across entities and jurisdictions.
• Coach and develop a team of accountants and drive continuous improvement.
