Job summary

Anthropic, a San Francisco–based AI safety company, seeks a senior accounting policy leader to own policy development and technical accounting for complex transactions. You’ll drive US GAAP policy, ASC 606 interpretations, and equity instruments while coordinating with auditors and regulators.

You will shape public reporting, assess new standards, and collaborate with Legal, Tax, FP&A on early deal design, building a strong technical accounting function for a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license.
• Minimum 15+ years in public accounting and industry.
• Experience leading accounting policy at a high-growth tech company.

Responsibilities

• Own the company's accounting policy framework across US GAAP.
• Lead technical advisor on novel transactions including ASC 606 and equity instruments.
• Build whitepaper and position-memo discipline for audit and regulator defense.
• Coordinate with external auditors and SEC on complex issues.
• Prepare SEC-style external reporting, disclosures, and close processes.
• Monitor adoption of new FASB standards and SEC rules.
• Partner with Legal, Tax, FP&A early in transaction design.
• Develop a high-caliber technical accounting team.
• Report significant positions to Audit Committee and leadership.
• Strengthen controls to support a SOX-ready environment.
