Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting in Stratford, CT. This remote-friendly role leads SEC filings, U.S. GAAP guidance, and complex accounting matters for a public company. You will shape accounting policy, coordinate with auditors, and mentor junior staff.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA, 8–12+ years of accounting experience, and a track record in SEC reporting, with strong technical writing and executive communication skills. Remote flexibility is offered.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's degree preferred.
• 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least 5 years of SEC-reporting experience within a publicly traded company.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, Regulation S‑X, Regulation S‑K, and public-company disclosure requirements.
• Experience with PCAOB audits, SOX 302/404, and internal controls over financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements, and related financial disclosures.
• Serve as the primary technical accounting resource for U.S. GAAP and complex or non-routine accounting transactions.
• Research accounting guidance and prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting management's conclusions.
• Monitor new FASB and SEC guidance and lead the implementation of new accounting standards.
• Provide accounting guidance on acquisitions, divestitures, equity transactions, convertible debt, stock-based compensation, leases, derivatives, and revenue recognition.
• Partner with external auditors on quarterly reviews, annual audits, and technical accounting matters.
• Support SOX compliance and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
• Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Legal, Tax, FP&A, and Investor Relations on accounting and reporting matters.
• Supervise and mentor a Senior Technical Accountant while developing technical accounting capabilities across the organization.

Job Details

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced technical accounting professional to lead technical accounting and SEC reporting for a publicly traded organization. Reporting to the VP & Corporate Controller, this role serves as a key resource for U.S. GAAP, complex accounting transactions, accounting policy, and external financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, proxy statements, and related financial disclosures.

• Experience with PCAOB audits, SOX 302/404, and internal controls over financial reporting.
• Strong technical writing, analytical, and executive communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Big Four public accounting experience.
• Experience responding to SEC comment letters.
• Experience with Nasdaq- or NYSE-listed companies.
• Familiarity with Workiva, NetSuite, BlackLine, or similar financial reporting systems.
• Experience supporting M&A activity and capital markets transactions.
