Job Details

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join the finance team and report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

This is a hands-on accounting leadership position for someone who enjoys being involved in the details while also helping improve processes, systems, reporting, and internal controls.

The Accounting Manager will oversee accounting activities for multiple domestic and international entities, support the monthly and annual close, prepare financial reporting, manage reconciliations and cash activity, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and provide technical guidance to other accounting team members.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, collaborative, and comfortable working in an environment with multiple entities and competing priorities.

What You'll Do
Accounting Operations
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities across multiple legal entities and business operations.
  • Take primary ownership of accounting activities for assigned international and investment-related entities.
  • Coordinate with internal accounting personnel and external accounting partners to ensure accurate and timely financial activity.
  • Review transactions, adjustments, intercompany activity, banking activity, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare and review intercompany transactions, consolidations, and elimination entries.
  • Monitor debt balances, interest payments, and related accounting activity.
  • Monitor cash balances and coordinate transfers and funding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate fixed asset and property records.
  • Review system-generated and imported transactions, research exceptions, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly and year-end close activities.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations.
Financial Reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages.
  • Provide financial information and analysis to the CFO and senior leadership.
  • Review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Assist with consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities.
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of financial reporting.
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with the CFO.
  • Analyze financial results, trends, and variances.
  • Investigate significant fluctuations and provide explanations to leadership.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to assist with business planning and decision-making.
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Review accounting processes for compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Identify control weaknesses and recommend appropriate improvements.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and governmental reporting requirements.
  • Stay current on relevant GAAP and regulatory developments.
Team Leadership
  • Provide accounting guidance and technical support to accounting staff.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and development of new team members.
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and professional team environment.
  • Partner effectively with internal departments, leadership, external advisors, and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as a resource for accounting questions and complex transactions.
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Assist with the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of financial systems.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and improve accounting processes.
  • Participate in projects designed to strengthen reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
  • Help ensure accounting systems accurately support the organization's evolving needs.
Payroll Support
  • Provide backup and support for a semi-monthly payroll process involving employees across multiple states and jurisdictions.
  • Assist with payroll-related accounting and problem resolution.
  • Become familiar with payroll systems and processes to provide coverage when needed.
  • Help ensure accurate processing of wages, taxes, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll-related items.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support the CFO and finance team with special projects and financial analysis as needed.
  • Participate in audits, system implementations, year-end activities, and other key accounting initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Experience working within a multi-entity accounting environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and accounting processes.
  • Experience with a multi-entity ERP system such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Oracle, or a comparable platform is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to investigate issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both accounting professionals and non-financial stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
  • Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working in a changing environment.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to jump in where needed.
  • CPA is not required.
