Job summary

Travelers in Maryland seeks a motivated Major Case Specialist to handle complex toxic tort, latent injury, environmental claims and excess claims with significant financial exposure. With general supervision, you will independently manage challenging high-frequency and high-severity claims, applying advanced knowledge of liability and coverage across multiple jurisdictions.

You will perform coverage research, liability analysis, and litigation management while coaching others and coordinating

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
• 4 years of bodily injury or property damage claim handling experience or comparable claim litigation or legal experience plus 3 years of SRG experience.
• Licensing may be required to comply with state and Travelers requirements; obtain within three months of starting the job.

Responsibilities

• Authority - Payment and resolution on individual matters up to $500,000. Manage total exposure by claim or account that often greatly exceeds $1,000,000.
• Responsible for coverage analysis for claims with complex trigger, allocation, limits, and exclusion issues.
• Conduct thorough investigation and analysis of claim facts to determine liability and apply relevant legal concepts.
• Proactively develop and execute a strategic file management plan guiding counsel, settlements, and experts.
• Lead or represent the unit/office on special projects and maintain well-documented claim files.
