Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Technical Specialist to handle complex toxic tort, latent injury, sexual misconduct and environmental claims with large financial exposure. You will manage claims with senior oversight, develop strategies, and ensure efficient resolution across jurisdictions.

The role requires deep knowledge of liability, coverage issues, and effective communication with policyholders and counsel, while maintaining compliant, well-documented files and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 3+ years of experience in claim handling, legal, insurance or coverage advice or environmental fields.
• Licensing may be required to comply with state and Travelers requirements; obtain within three months of starting.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze coverage across policies from multiple legacy companies and communicate positions to policyholders.
• Investigate liability and evaluate damages; apply evolving legal concepts and jurisdictional knowledge to develop course of action.
• Develop and execute strategic file management plans; coordinate with counsel and experts; manage settlements and litigation steps.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of accounts; communicate with stakeholders; ensure consistent handling of claims and settlements.
• Estimate financial exposures and prepare budgets in consultation with supervisor; maintain defense and indemnity estimates.
• Maintain organized claim files and proficiency with SRG systems; ensure data accuracy and efficient file inventory.
• May participate in training, mentoring and interviewing.
