Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee a large fleet of mining equipment in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA. You will develop maintenance strategies, lead a team of mechanics, and ensure safety, efficiency and equipment availability.

Responsibilities include budgeting, CMMS management, and collaboration with operations and engineering to meet production targets while driving continuous improvement in maintenance practices.

Qualifications

• Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 7+ years in maintenance management with 5+ years in a supervisory role within heavy equipment/mining.
• Experience managing maintenance for a large fleet of mining equipment (ex. excavators, haul trucks, dozers, crushers).
• Proficiency in CMMS software (SAP PM, Oracle, Maximo).
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage maintenance strategies for all mining equipment.
• Lead, mentor and manage the maintenance team (supervisors, mechanics, technicians).
• Ensure all maintenance activities meet safety and regulatory requirements.
• Optimize schedules to maximize equipment availability and minimize downtime.
• Manage maintenance budget and control costs (labor, parts, external services).
• Oversee spare parts inventory for timely availability and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement and manage CMMS for work orders, history and performance tracking.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to support targets.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to maintenance.
• Drive continuous improvement in the maintenance department.
