Placements24 is recruiting a Mobile Plant Technician for our mining client in Upington, Northern Cape. You will maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy mining equipment including excavators, haul trucks, loaders, and drilling rigs, with a focus on reliability and safety.

The role requires a trade qualification as a mechanic and at least 5 years' experience in heavy mobile plant. You will work across shifts and join a proactive team dedicated to uptime and performance in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a mechanic required.
• 5+ years experience maintaining heavy mobile plant in mining.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Read and interpret diagrams and service manuals.
• Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
• Willing to work shifts and standby for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting on heavy mining plant.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and servicing per specs.
• Repair and overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Read manuals, schematics, and diagnostics.
• Maintain safety protocols on site.
• Keep accurate service logs.
• Respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Communicate equipment status with supervisors.
• Assist in spare parts inventory.
