Placements24 is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic for a role in Upington, Northern Cape. You will diagnose, repair, and service heavy trucks, engines, transmissions, and electrical/hydraulic systems to keep a large fleet on the road.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in fleet maintenance, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to read manuals and schematics. A focus on safety, accuracy, and teamwork is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
• Proven experience with various makes and models of commercial trucks and trailers.
• Strong diagnostic skills and proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Solid understanding of diesel engines, transmissions, suspension, braking, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance services as per manufacturer and company specifications.
• Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and recommend necessary repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and air conditioning units on vehicles.
• Utilize diagnostic equipment to accurately identify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
• Ensure all repairs comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Manage parts inventory and order necessary replacement components.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures, with a strong emphasis on safety.
