Job summary

Placements24 client, a major operator in the Mining sector, seeks a Chief Mine Maintenance Superintendent to lead the maintenance division in East London, Eastern Cape. You will oversee maintenance and repair of heavy mining equipment, drive preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensure uptime and safety.

The role requires a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, 10+ years in maintenance management with 5+ in senior leadership, and proven ability to manage large teams, budgets, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive maintenance management experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role within Mining.
• Experience managing large maintenance teams and heavy mining equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire mine maintenance department (mechanical, electrical, and mobile equipment).
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities including major overhauls.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of workshops and personnel.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and optimize spare parts inventory.
• Implement best practices in maintenance management using technology and data analytics.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and procurement to align strategies.
• Mentor staff and foster continuous improvement and skill development.
