Job summary

Placements24 is sourcing a Reliability and Maintenance Engineer for a major mining client in Welkom. The role focuses on developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and fuel reliability across heavy mining assets.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree with 5+ years in reliability/maintenance, strong RCFA and CMMS proficiency, and a data‑driven approach to decision‑making in a hybrid on‑site/remote setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability or maintenance engineering, preferably in mining or heavy industry.
• Proven experience in preventive and predictive maintenance programs (e.g., vibration, thermography, oil analysis).
• Proficiency with CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo).
• Strong understanding of heavy mining equipment (excavators, haul trucks, crushers).

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for mining equipment.
• Conduct RCFA to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Use CMMS to track maintenance history and spare parts inventory.
• Analyze reliability metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to minimize downtime.
