Job summary

MetLife’s Global Technology team seeks a leader to architect, design, and direct modernization of mainframe systems. You’ll guide resilience, automation, and performance improvements across z/OS, zLinux, and related services, shaping enterprise-wide IT transformation.

With extensive mainframe experience, you will drive strategic initiatives, lead cross-functional teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver modern, reliable mainframe solutions that align with evolving business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 7+ years of mainframe engineering experience.
• Expertise in IBM z/OS, WLM, RACF.
• Experience with mainframe modernization projects.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical and strategic thinker.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of mainframe solutions aligned with business goals and tech strategy.
• Provide technical leadership to mainframe development, operations, and modernization teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and infra teams to define requirements and deliver mainframe solutions.
• Establish new mainframe intake and change processes, including performance tuning of z/OS, z/Linux, WLM & PR/SM.
• Assist in BCP design exercises using Ansible & CSM, metro mirror, global mirror safeguarded copies, and site swaps.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to drive modernization of mainframe platforms.
• Develop and enforce best practices, standards, and governance for mainframe environments.
• Create architectural roadmaps and blueprints for mainframe systems.
• Ensure high availability, security, and performance with SMF & RMF telemetry.
