Job summary

MetLife, a global insurance leader, seeks a Lead Mainframe z/OS Db2 Site Reliability Engineer to modernize and optimize mainframe databases. You will architect, design, and direct modernization efforts and ensure reliability, scalability, and alignment with business goals.

Location is hybrid with three days in office; 7+ years in mainframe engineering and strong leadership are required. You will drive CI/CD for database changes and engage with strategic IT transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mainframe engineering experience with service delivery.
• Expertise in IBM z/OS Db2 and related mainframe technologies.
• Experience leading modernization, integration, and migration projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and implementation of mainframe solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to mainframe development, operations, and modernization teams.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, application developers, and infrastructure teams to identify requirements.
• Help establish a new Mainframe intake and change processes with performance tuning of z/OS Db2 subsystems/databases.
• Develop self-service on-demand automation for DDL/DML requests.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement and modernize mainframe platforms.
• Establish and enforce governance for mainframe environments.
• Develop architectural roadmaps and blueprints for mainframe systems.
• Ensure high availability, security, and performance of z/OS Db2 subsystems.
