Job summary
Morgan Stanley in Alpharetta, GA is seeking a Lead Mainframe Storage Engineer to join the Z Infrastructure team. You will manage a highly available IBM DS8000/TS7700 storage environment, design SMS configurations, and lead disaster recovery planning to ensure resilient mainframe operations.
The role requires strong z/OS expertise, DFSMS tooling, and experience with replication technologies such as PPRC, Metro Mirror, and Global Copy.
Qualifications
- Extensive IBM z/OS storage experience and mainframe storage management.
- Experience with DS8K, TS7700 and DFSMS tooling required.
- Proficiency in backup, DR, and replication (DFHSM/DFDSS/PPRC).
- FICON connectivity, VSAM/QSAM access methods knowledge.
- Automation scripting with REXX or similar tooling.
Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain IBM DS8000 and TS7700 storage hardware.
- Design SMS configurations and manage storage classes and rules.
- Oversee data replication and disaster recovery planning.
- Monitor capacity and plan infrastructure upgrades.
- Develop automation scripts to streamline storage operations.
- Troubleshoot outages and perform root-cause analyses.
