Job summary
Morgan Stanley's Technology division is seeking a Lead Mainframe Storage Engineer to join the Z Infrastructure team in Alpharetta, GA. You will secure a highly available IBM z/OS storage platform and lead initiatives around DFSMS, PPRC, and advanced tape management.
In this role you will configure DS8000 and TS7700 environments, automate storage tasks with REXX, and drive DR planning, capacity forecasting, and resilience features to protect production workloads and support the firm's financial
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of the IBM z/OS environment.
- Proficient with utilities ICKDSF, IDCAMS, IEBCOPY and tape systems TLMS/RMM.
- Experience with Tivoli Advanced Catalog management and allocation optimizer.
- Knowledge of Copy Services Manager and ESSNI.
- Experience with PPRC, Metro Mirror, Global Copy & HyperSwap.
- Understanding of z/OS resilience features (HyperSwap/HyperWrite).
Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain IBM DS8000 DASD and TS7700 VTS hardware.
- Design SMS configurations; manage data, storage/class rules.
- Oversee backup, replication, DR planning using DFHSM/DFDSS.
- Monitor storage utilization and plan capacity upgrades.
- Develop automation scripts using REXX to streamline storage ops.
- Troubleshoot outages and perform root cause analysis.
