Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking a Lead Mainframe Storage Engineer to join the Z Infrastructure team, delivering a highly available IBM Z compute and storage platform. You will implement SMS, manage backups, and lead storage migrations with minimal production impact.

The role requires deep z/OS knowledge, experience with DFSMS and related tooling, and a strong ability to automate storage operations. Strong collaboration with IT and security teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of IBM z/OS environments and mainframe storage.
• Experience with TS7700 MI and DS8K HMCs is preferred.
• Proficient in DFSMS SMS configuration and data management.
• Experience with backup/recovery tools and data replication.
• Strong scripting and automation using REXX.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain IBM DS8000 and TS7700 storage hardware.
• Design SMS configurations and manage data, storage and classes.
• Oversee disaster recovery planning and backups with DFHSM/DFDSS.
• Monitor storage usage and plan infrastructure upgrades.
• Develop automation scripts to streamline storage ops and alerts.
