Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer to ensure the performance, scalability, and efficiency of our enterprise mainframe environment supporting healthcare, pharmacy, and retail applications.

You will partner with development, systems programming, infrastructure, and DBAs to analyze workload behavior, forecast capacity, and optimize application performance, including participating in Open Enrollment and other high-volume periods.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting enterprise IBM mainframe environments (z/OS, IBM Z).
• 5+ years in capacity planning, performance engineering, root cause analysis, and production troubleshooting.
• 3+ years analyzing utilization trends and forecasting capacity needs.
• 3+ years using enterprise mainframe monitoring/PM tools to resolve bottlenecks.
• 2+ years with Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel reporting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize mainframe resource utilization, performance, and capacity across z/OS environments.
• Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time diagnostics to identify bottlenecks and risks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot performance issues and implement optimization strategies.
• Deliver utilization reports and capacity recommendations to support investments and upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership for testing, production support, incident response, and on-call rotation.
