Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer to join our Enterprise Infrastructure team. You will lead capacity planning, workload analysis, and performance optimization across the z/OS mainframe environment supporting healthcare, pharmacy, and retail applications.

This role emphasizes real-time diagnostics, trend analysis, and collaboration with application development, operations, and databases.

Qualifications

5+ years supporting enterprise IBM mainframe environments (z/OS).
5+ years capacity planning and performance engineering in large-scale environments.
3+ years analyzing utilization trends and forecasting capacity.
3+ years using enterprise mainframe monitoring tools to resolve bottlenecks.
2+ years using Microsoft Excel advanced reporting.

Responsibilities

Monitor, analyze, and optimize enterprise mainframe resource utilization, performance, and capacity across IBM z/OS environments.
Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time performance diagnostics.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, database, and systems programming teams to identify high-resource consumers and implement optimization strategies to reduce MIPS consumption.
Develop and deliver utilization reports, performance assessments, and capacity recommendations to support investments, initiatives, and peak-business readiness.
Provide technical leadership for performance engineering activities including testing, QA, production support, incident response, and on-call rotation.
