Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer to join our Enterprise Infrastructure. You will lead capacity planning, performance engineering, and real-time diagnostics for our mainframe environment supporting healthcare, pharmacy, and retail applications.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to optimize workload behavior, monitor trends, and drive MIPS reduction while maintaining enterprise service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years in enterprise IBM mainframe environments including z/OS.
• 5+ years in capacity planning and performance engineering.
• 3+ years analyzing utilization trends and capacity forecasting.
• 2+ years using Excel for advanced reporting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize mainframe resource utilization, performance, and capacity across IBM z/OS environments.
• Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time performance diagnostics.
• Identify high-resource consumers, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies to reduce MIPS consumption.
• Deliver utilization reports, performance assessments, and capacity recommendations for investments and upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership for testing, quality assurance, and incident response with on-call rotation.
