Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer to join our Enterprise Infrastructure team. You will lead capacity planning, performance diagnostics, and optimization across the enterprise mainframe, ensuring scalable, reliable services for healthcare, pharmacy, and retail applications.

You will partner with Development, Systems Programming, Operations, and DBAs to analyze workload behavior, forecast needs, and implement improvements while minimizing MIPS and cost.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supporting enterprise IBM mainframe environments (z/OS, IBM Z).
• 5+ years capacity planning, performance engineering, and production troubleshooting.
• 3+ years analyzing utilization trends and forecasting capacity needs.
• 3+ years using mainframe monitoring/performance tools.
• 2+ years using Microsoft Office with advanced Excel reporting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, analyze, and optimize enterprise mainframe resource utilization, performance, and capacity across IBM z/OS environments.
• Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time performance diagnostics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify high-resource consumers and implement optimization strategies.
• Deliver utilization reports and capacity recommendations to inform investments and upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership for testing, QA reviews, and on-call production support.
