Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe Capacity & Performance Engineer to join our Enterprise Infrastructure organization. This role focuses on capacity planning, workload analysis, and performance optimization of our mainframe environment, supporting healthcare, pharmacy, and retail apps.

You will partner with multiple teams to analyze workload behavior, forecast needs, and drive MIPS reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

5+ years supporting enterprise IBM mainframe environments, including z/OS and IBM Z.
5+ years in capacity planning, performance engineering, root cause analysis, and production troubleshooting.
3+ years analyzing utilization trends, forecasting capacity needs, and driving workload optimization.
3+ years leveraging enterprise mainframe monitoring and performance management tools.
2+ years with advanced Excel reporting and data analysis.

Responsibilities

Monitor, analyze, and optimize mainframe resource utilization, performance, and capacity across z/OS environments.
Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and real-time performance diagnostics.
Identify high-resource consumers, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement optimizations to reduce MIPS.
Deliver utilization reports and capacity recommendations for investments and upgrades.
Provide technical leadership for testing, QA, production support, incident response, and on-call rotation.
