Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support, optimize, and automate Db2 for z/OS and IDMS databases. The role focuses on database administration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, DR readiness, and automation across enterprise platforms with a 24x7 on-call rotation.

The ideal candidate will have deep Db2 z/OS expertise, SQL tuning skills, JCL proficiency, and experience in large-scale mainframe environments.

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery and production support.
3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools such as OMEGAMON and Db2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
3+ years of JCL development and 24x7 production on-call support in large mainframe environments.
1+ year designing or supporting database replication in complex enterprise settings.

Responsibilities

Administer and support Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments.
Optimize database performance via SQL tuning, access path analysis, index recommendations, RUNSTATS, REORG, and resource analysis.
Develop automation to improve DBA processes and legacy support activities.
Manage backup, recovery, replication, and DR processes with testing.
Support Db2 Function Level upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and utilities execution.
Respond to production incidents and changes while participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Provide technical consultation to development, infrastructure, and application teams.
