Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support, optimize, and automate Db2 for z/OS and IDMS database environments across enterprise platforms. The Senior DBA will be responsible for database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, disaster recovery readiness, and automation initiatives with application release support.

The role requires deep Db2 z/OS expertise, SQL tuning, JCL, and production support in large-scale mainframe settings,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience, including design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and production support.
• 3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools (Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, Db2 utilities: LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
• 3+ years advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, query optimization, and index management in Db2 z/OS.
• 3+ years JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 on-call production support in large mainframe environments.
• 1+ year designing or supporting database replication in complex enterprise settings.

Responsibilities

• Administer Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments, including migrations and releases.
• Tune SQL performance, analyze access paths, optimize indexes, run RUNSTATS, REORG, and monitor resources.
• Develop automation to improve DBA processes and legacy support activities.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery, including testing and DR documentation.
• Support Db2 function level upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and database utilities.
• Respond to production incidents and change requests while participating in 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Provide technical consultation and knowledge transfer to development and infrastructure teams.
