Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support and optimize Db2 for z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments. You will lead performance tuning, automation of DBA tasks, and ensure high availability of mission-critical systems within a healthcare platform.

The role requires deep Db2 z/OS expertise, strong SQL tuning, JCL development, and experience supporting large mainframe environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS Database Administration experience including design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and production support.
• 3+ years of experience with Db2 Administration Tools (Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, Db2 utilities).
• 3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years of experience with JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
• 1+ year designing, implementing, or supporting database replication solutions.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across environments, including migrations.
• Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, access path analysis, index recommendations, RUNSTATS, REORG, and resource analysis.
• Develop and implement automation to improve database administration processes and legacy support.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes with testing and documentation.
• Support Db2 Function Level upgrades, migrations, RSU maintenance, and database utilities.
• Respond to database support requests, change requests, audits, and incidents while on 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Provide technical consultation and knowledge transfer to development, infrastructure, and application teams.
