Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support, optimize, and automate enterprise Db2 for z/OS and IDMS environments. You will lead database performance, backup and recovery, disaster recovery readiness, and database automation initiatives across critical healthcare platforms, collaborating with development, infrastructure, and support teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on Db2 z/OS experience, strong SQL performance tuning, JCL, and 24x7

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery and production support.
• 3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools such as Query Monitor, OMEGAMON and Db2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
• 3+ years advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
• 1+ year experience designing or supporting replication solutions in complex enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments, including migrations.
• Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, access path analysis, index recommendations and RUNSTATS/REORG tasks.
• Develop automation solutions to improve database administration processes and efficiency.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes with documentation and testing.
• Support Db2 Function Level upgrades, migrations, RSU maintenance, and utilities.
• Respond to database support requests, change requests, audit inquiries, and production incidents on a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Provide technical consultation and knowledge transfer to development, infrastructure, and app teams.
