Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support and optimize enterprise Db2 for z/OS and IDMS environments. You will lead database operations, tuning, backup, disaster recovery readiness, and automation initiatives across critical healthcare platforms.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of Db2 z/OS experience, strong SQL tuning, JCL skills, and production support in large mainframe environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and production support.
• 3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools such as Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities: LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI.
• 3+ years of advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, query optimization, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years of experience with JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
• 1+ year designing or supporting database replication in complex enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments, including structural changes, releases, and migrations.
• Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, access path analysis, index recommendations, RUNSTATS, and REORG.
• Develop and implement automation solutions to improve DBA processes and legacy support activities.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes, including DR documentation and testing.
• Support Db2 function level upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and database utility execution.
• Respond to database support requests and incidents while participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Provide technical consultation and knowledge transfer to development, infrastructure, and application teams.
