Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator to support Db2 z/OS and IDMS environments, optimize performance, and drive automation. You will collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure high availability of critical systems.

The role requires 5+ years of Db2 for z/OS experience, strong SQL tuning, JCL development, and the ability to operate in a 24x7 on‑call environment. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including design, maintenance, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and production support.
• 3+ years with Db2 Administration Tools, Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
• 3+ years advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on‑call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
• 1+ year experience designing, implementing, or supporting replication solutions in complex enterprise computing environments.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments.
• Optimize performance through SQL tuning, index recommendations, and RUNSTATS.
• Develop automation to improve database administration and legacy support.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes with testing.
• Support Db2 Function Level upgrades, version migrations, and utilities.
• Respond to change requests, audits, and incidents with 24x7 on‑call rotation.
• Provide technical consultation to development and infrastructure teams.
