Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support Db2 for z/OS and IDMS across production systems. The role includes performance tuning, backup/recovery, DR readiness, and automation initiatives in a large healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of Db2 for z/OS experience, strong SQL performance tuning skills, JCL proficiency, and experience with 24x7 on-call production support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on Db2 for z/OS DBA experience including design, maintenance, performance tuning and production support.
• 3+ years experience with Db2 Administration Tools such as Query Monitor, OMEGAMON, and Db2 utilities (LOAD, UNLOAD, RUNSTATS, REORG, COPY, RECOVER, SPUFI).
• 3+ years advanced SQL performance tuning, access path analysis, query optimization, and index management in Db2 z/OS environments.
• 3+ years experience with JCL development, DBA job scheduling, and 24x7 production on-call support in large-scale mainframe environments.
• 1+ year experience designing, implementing, or supporting database replication solutions.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Db2 z/OS and IDMS databases across production and non-production environments, including changes and migrations.
• Optimize database performance through SQL tuning, access path analysis, index recommendations, RUNSTATS, REORG, and resource utilization analysis.
• Develop and implement automation to improve database administration and legacy support activities.
• Manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery processes including testing.
• Support Db2 Function Level upgrades, version migrations, RSU maintenance, and database utility execution.
• Respond to database support/change/audit requests and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
