Job summary

Planate Management Group seeks an experienced Mail Security Operations Specialist to support high-risk mail screening for government facilities. You will advise on mail intake, screening, isolation, opening when required, documentation, and escalation.

This role requires leadership of screening teams, familiarity with GSA/OSAC guidance, and collaboration with security and first-responder partners. Occasional travel to client sites is needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in high-risk mail screening or related security operations.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray or equivalent imaging of letters and parcels.
• Experience leading or supervising mail-screening teams.
• Experience operating in off-site or isolated screening facilities with automated screening equipment.
• Familiarity with GSA or OSAC mail-screening guidance.
• Background in DoD, federal facility, or SDVOSB contracting work.

Responsibilities

• Write mail-screening procedures for high-consequence sites (intake, visual/X-ray review, isolation, opening, release or escalation).
• Advise on isolated-cell operations: PPE, chain of custody, evidence handling, and hoax-versus-hazard decisions.
• Support drills with security, facilities, and first-responder counterparts.
• Translate operator workflow into requirements for automated screening systems.
• Train client screeners and field technicians on suspicious-mail recognition and stop-work authority.
• Coordinate incident documentation with USSS, USPIS, FPS, bomb squads as needed.
• Occasional travel to client sites and company locations.
