Job summary

Planate Management Group is seeking an experienced Mail Security Operations Specialist to support high-risk mail operations for government and high-security facilities. You will help shape screening procedures, advise on isolated operations, and coordinate with security partners while traveling to client sites as needed.

This full-time role requires extensive experience with mail screening, X-ray imaging, and leadership of screening teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in high-risk mail screening or related security operations.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray imaging of letters and parcels and formal suspicious-item procedures.
• Experience leading or supervising mail-screening teams.
• Experience operating in off-site or isolated screening facilities with automated screening equipment.
• Familiarity with GSA or OSAC mail-screening guidance and DoD/federal facility work.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed and obtain/maintain required security clearances.

Responsibilities

• Write mail-screening procedures for high-consequence sites: intake, review, isolation, opening or confirmation, release or escalation.
• Advise on isolated-cell operations: PPE, chain of custody, evidence handling, and hoax-versus-hazard decisions.
• Support drills with security, facilities, and first responders.
• Translate operator workflow into requirements for automated screening systems.
• Train client screeners and field technicians on suspicious-mail recognition and stop-work authority.
• Support pilots: site survey, acceptance testing, go-live, and early operations.
• Coordinate incident documentation with USSS, USPIS, FPS, local bomb squad, or equivalents as needed.
• Occasional travel to client sites and company locations.
