Job summary

California State University, Chico is seeking an Advanced macOS & Linux Systems Technology Support Specialist III to deliver expert endpoint support across desktops, labs, and research environments.

You will provide high-level consultation, configure and troubleshoot macOS and Linux systems, ensure security and policy compliance, and contribute to lifecycle management in an academic setting. This role supports faculty, staff, and students and requires collaborative problem solving.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of progressively responsible technical support experience, including advanced macOS or Linux administration.
• Experience with Mac/Linux endpoint management in an enterprise environment is preferred.
• Related IT certifications may be considered in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level consultation, configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management for macOS and Linux systems across desktops, labs, and research environments.
• Support IT-managed desktops, instructional computing labs, and non-instructional lab environments.
• Ensure endpoint security standards and institutional policies are implemented to enable legitimate academic and research activities.
