Job summary

Blue Origin's Lunar Permanence team is seeking experienced M&P Engineers to deliver material and process solutions for crewed space hardware in a pressurized module.

The role requires an MS (or PhD) in a relevant field and 8+ years of M&P experience, with strong knowledge of NASA standards and experience in evaluation, qualification, and testing. Travel to Blue Origin and vendor sites is required.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Aerospace, Materials, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years of M&P Engineering experience on a crewed space program.
• Knowledge of NASA cleanliness, contamination, toxicity, and life support material requirements.
• Familiarity with NASA-STD-6001 and related crewed hardware requirements.
• Willingness to travel to Blue Origin sites and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Provide broad support for aerospace grade materials and processes including: aluminum, steel, inconel, copper, bronze, composite; forming, extrusion, plating, coating, friction welding, brazing, anodization, passivation, laminates.
• Own material and process requirement implementation and verification for crew facing hardware in a pressurized space crew module.
• Lead material characterization and qualification efforts related to crew facing hardware in a pressurized space crew module.
• Review production drawings for large complex assemblies and document reviews to established requirements.
• Responsible for M&P signatory release of engineering drawings for parts and assemblies.
• Lead and coordinate internal and external M&P efforts, including development of specifications and supplier qualification.
• Lead development of internal engineering and quality processes to standardize material evaluation and qualification.
• Work with cross-functional teams within Lunar organization and other business units.
