Job summary

Starr Indemnity & Liability Company seeks a remote loss control consultant to perform on-site surveys for Oil, Petrochemical, and Chemical risks, evaluate sprinkler and fire protection systems, and prepare detailed reports for underwriters.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 10+ years in relevant industries, strong communication, and the ability to work independently with travel around the region; a company car is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering; preference for chemical/ mechanical/fire protection.
• 10+ years as an engineer in Oil/Petrochemical/Chemical sectors or 5+ years in property loss control inspections.
• PSM knowledge (29 CFR 1910.119) required; familiarity with KPI, PHA, LOPA, SIS.
• Ability to work independently and with underwriters; strong written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel for reporting.

Responsibilities

• On-site loss control surveys for high-hazard industries (oil/petrochemical, chemical, etc).
• Review sprinkler and fire alarm systems; write survey reports; advise underwriting staff.
• Travel regionally with approx. 25% overnight stays; client meetings and account management.
• Maintain inspection data records and provide risk guidance to clients and underwriters.
