Job summary

Starr Insurance seeks a Loss Control Consultant to perform on-site risk assessments for high-hazard industries, including Oil & Petrochemical, Chemical, and Power sectors. You will evaluate sprinkler systems, building construction, and fire alarm plans, then write detailed surveys for underwriters and clients.

The role requires extensive field work, independent analysis, and collaboration with underwriters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline with preference for chemical, mechanical, or fire protection.
• Experience communicating risk and safety concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with NFPA, API, ASME standards and loss prevention practices.
• Ability to travel regionally and perform on-site loss control surveys.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site loss control surveys for high hazard industries (Oil & Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, Pulp & Paper, Steel, Electronics).
• Evaluate sprinkler systems, building construction, and fire alarm plans; provide risk guidance to clients.
• Prepare survey reports and engineering account reviews for underwriters and brokers.
• Coordinate with underwriting staff and clients to ensure risk quality and insurability.
• Maintain inspection records in ELCS and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
