Job summary

Starr Insurance is seeking a senior Loss Control Consultant to perform property loss control surveys for high-hazard industries such as Oil & Petrochemical, Chemical, and Power generation, combining fieldwork with technical analysis and collaboration with underwriters.

This remote US role offers a company car, approx. 25% overnight travel, and requires a BS in engineering plus 5–10+ years of relevant experience, with deep knowledge of PSM, NFPA and loss prevention standards.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering with preference for chemical, mechanical, or fire protection.
• 10+ years as an engineer in Oil/Petrochemical, Midstream, or Chemical sector OR 5+ years performing property loss control inspections.
• PSM knowledge per 29 CFR 1910.119 required; familiarity with KPI, PHA, LOPA, SIF/SIS, MOC.
• Familiarity with NFPA, FM, API, ASME loss prevention standards.
• Ability to work independently with underwriters and managers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site risk surveys for high hazard industries.
• Evaluate sprinkler systems, building construction, and fire alarm plans.
• Prepare survey reports and present findings to underwriters.
• Support underwriting staff with risk quality guidance.
• Travel regionally with approx 25% overnight.
• Work remotely with occasional office proximity and use company car.
