Job summary

Mirai Bio, a Flagship-founded biotechnology company, seeks a Senior Research Associate, LNP Production in Cambridge, MA to advance lipid nanoparticle formulations for nucleic acid therapies. You will design, produce, and characterize LNPs, operate cross-scale processes, and collaborate across teams to accelerate preclinical programs.

The role requires hands-on formulation and production expertise, data interpretation, and a collaborative mindset in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in chemical/biochemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biology, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with lipid nanoparticle formulation and production for nucleic acid cargos such as mRNA or siRNA.
• Experience with LNP processing techniques and equipment across multiple scales (mixers, pumps, TFF).
• Familiarity with analytical techniques to characterize LNPs (particle size, polydispersity, encapsulation).
• Demonstrated ability to execute experiments, troubleshoot challenges, and drive projects forward.
• Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative and adaptable team player able to work independently and cross-functionally.
• Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, formulate, produce, and characterize LNPs for preclinical research.
• Execute LNP production across scales from small- to large-scale.
• Operate and develop processes using LNP manufacturing equipment (mixers, pumps, TFF).
• Troubleshoot formulation and process challenges; optimize production workflows.
• Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams to design experiments and interpret results.
• Support development of robust, reproducible LNP workflows and documentation.
• Maintain thorough ELN documentation of procedures and conclusions.
• Analyze data and present findings to cross-functional teams.
• Contribute to a culture of scientific rigor and operational excellence.
