Job summary

Mirai Bio in Cambridge, MA seeks a Senior Research Associate, LNP Production to design, produce, and optimize lipid nanoparticle formulations for nucleic acid therapeutics. This hands-on role requires expertise in LNP formulation, process development across scales, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to advance preclinical programs.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Hands-on experience with lipid nanoparticle formulation and production for nucleic acid cargos such as mRNA, siRNA, or other genetic medicines.
• Experience with LNP processing techniques and equipment across multiple scales (mixers, pumping systems, TFF).
• Familiarity with analytical techniques for characterizing LNPs (particle size, polydispersity, encapsulation) and related physicochemical attributes.
• Ability to independently execute experiments, troubleshoot challenges, and drive projects forward.

Responsibilities

• Design, formulate, produce, and characterize LNPs to support preclinical research.
• Execute LNP production across scales from small-scale formulation to larger-scale production.
• Operate and develop LNP manufacturing equipment (mixers, pumps, TFF).
• Troubleshoot formulation and process challenges and optimize production workflows.
• Collaborate with scientists and cross-functional teams to design experiments and interpret results.
• Maintain thorough documentation of procedures and results in electronic lab notebooks.
