Job summary

Brookdale Senior Living in Chapel Hill, NC is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the general upkeep of community buildings and grounds, ensuring safety and compliance with standards.

You will supervise maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff, coordinate repairs, manage HVAC/elevator systems, and respond to resident needs and emergencies while upholding Brookdale's commitment to quality care and service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid State Driver’s License required for vehicle travel.

Responsibilities

• Supervises maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues and firing.
• Directs workers engaged in maintenance and upkeep of interior and exterior of the community; inspects work for conformance to standards and policies.
• Oversees scheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
• Coordinates maintenance requests by residents for repairs in rooms; repairs plumbing, electrical, heating and replacing light bulbs.
• Oversees repairs and maintenance of buildings including vacated rooms; performs painting and carpet cleaning as needed.
• Maintains safety by ensuring proper upkeep of walls, floors, doors and woodwork; communicates with local fire marshal and inspectors.
• Assesses plumbing/electrical problems and works within local/state codes; reviews SDS for hazardous chemicals; handles property damage claims as per policy.
• Responds to resident or community emergencies as needed.
