Job summary

Brookdale is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee community maintenance, housekeeping, and staff, ensuring safe, well-maintained facilities in a senior living community. You will coordinate repairs, supervise trades, and ensure code compliance.

The role requires driving and coordinating with inspectors, managing multiple tasks, and providing timely responses to resident needs while upholding Brookdale’s high service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid State Driver’s License required for vehicle travel, as needed.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the community maintenance, housekeeping and laundry staff, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, resolving disciplinary issues and firing.
• Directs workers engaged in maintenance and upkeep of the interior and exterior of the community. Inspects completed work for conformance to standards and policies.
• Oversees scheduled maintenance on HVAC, elevator, fire and sprinkler equipment, generator, landscape, kitchen equipment, and emergency pull cord equipment.
• Coordinates maintenance requests by residents for repairs in their rooms, including repairing plumbing, electrical, heating and replacing light bulbs.
• Oversees repairs and maintenance of buildings including vacated rooms in a timely manner, including painting walls and cleaning carpets.
• Maintains walls, floors, doors, and woodwork in common areas; ensures compliance with safety standards.
• Maintains communication with local fire marshal, building inspector, state elevator inspector, and other jurisdictions.
• Evaluates plumbing and electrical problems and determines corrective actions within local/state codes.
• Reviews SDS and safety measures for hazardous chemicals and responsible handling.
• Assesses property damage and files claims per company policy.
• Responds to resident or community emergencies as needed.
