Job summary

The Cedarhurst of Shawnee is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our Dining Services team. You will prepare high-quality, nutritious meals for residents, follow standardized recipes, and support dietary needs while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards.

Working under the Dining Services Director, you will help train new kitchen staff, manage temperature logs, and coordinate meal production to ensure timely service and resident satisfaction in a caring senior living setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• At least one year of experience as a cook preferred.
• Food Manager Certification, or ability to obtain, is required.
• CPR or BLS certification preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and digital tools used in health records and HR systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, and serve foods according to menu cycles and recipes.
• Taste foods to assess quality and adjust seasoning.
• Prepare special dietary meals as directed by the Dining Services Director.
• Coordinate meal production with serving hours.
• Maintain temperature logs and cleaning schedules.
• Assist with training of new kitchen staff.
• Ensure food safety and infection control standards.
• Communicate with residents' families as needed about care and meals.
• Work collaboratively with management and staff and follow directions.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and participate in required trainings.
