Job summary

RTX is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain RHEL-based environments at the Woburn, MA site, ensuring secure and scalable infrastructure for mission-critical applications.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, with the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance. Onsite work with comprehensive benefits is offered to join RTX’s defense technology teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience.
• Hands-on experience with RHEL administration.
• Background in OS hardening, security baselines, and compliance frameworks (e.g., STIGs, CIS Benchmarks).
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain RHEL-based systems in production and development environments.
• Implement OS hardening standards and security controls across Linux systems.
• Develop and maintain automated configuration workflows using Ansible or other IaC/CM tools.
• Write and maintain scripts to support system configuration, monitoring, and operational tasks.
• Apply systems engineering principles to requirements analysis, design documentation, verification, and lifecycle support.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Linux/Windows hosts, networks, infrastructure services, and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.
• Participate in technical reviews, architecture discussions, and design planning.
