Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain RHEL-based infrastructures. The role emphasizes OS hardening, security controls, and automation using Ansible or similar tools.

The position requires a bachelor’s in a related field and 5 years of experience, with the ability to obtain an Interim Secret clearance. Onsite work in the US with comprehensive benefits is provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE/SE and 5 years of experience
• Hands-on experience with RHEL administration
• Experience with OS hardening, security baselines, and compliance (STIGs, CIS Benchmarks)
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain RHEL-based systems in production and development environments.
• Implement OS hardening standards and security controls across Linux systems.
• Develop and maintain automated configuration workflows using Ansible or other IaC/CM tools.
• Write and maintain scripts to support system configuration, monitoring, and operational tasks.
• Apply systems engineering principles to requirements analysis, design documentation, verification, and lifecycle support.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Linux/Windows hosts, networks, infrastructure services, and applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system reliability, security, and scalability.
• Participate in technical reviews, architecture discussions, and design planning.
