Job summary

Wesco is seeking a Senior Technical Sales Specialist - Lighting in the Chicago area. The role is customer-facing, driving the commercial/technical decision process for large lighting projects and delivering pre- and post-sales expertise in technical products and services.

You will present and demonstrate lighting solutions, support the sales team, and build strong relationships with customers and vendors while traveling to engage prospects and close opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or Business preferred
• 3+ years Electrical industry experience as a manufacturer or distributor
• 5+ years Sales experience in related industry
• Strong computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to travel 25% - 50%

Responsibilities

• Calls on client, management and representatives to convince them of desirability of technical products or services offered.
• Provides technical services to clients relating to specified products.
• Markets and demonstrates technology solutions for customers.
• Gathers, analyzes and shares technical information and solutions to internal and external customers.
• First line of pre/post technical sales support for sales teams.
• Leads joint sales calls with customers and prospects.
• Assists account representatives in finding new sales opportunities.
• Participates in ongoing training to maintain technical competency.
• Understands market conditions and identifies areas for growth.
• Promotes value-add products in competitive situations.
• Maintains relationships with vendor product managers and selling resources.
